The #No_2_Steel_Mill_Pinpet is expected to resume operating in this fiscal year 2023-24.

Three workshops from the factory will be proceeded trial period and be inspected in cooperation with experts from Russia.The Union Minister for the Ministry of Industry Dr. Charlie Than underlined it during his visit to the factory in recent days.

As a matter of fact, a total of 19 workshops of the factory including the melting steel process were tested in production in October 2016 with assistance from Russian experts.

The No. 2 Steel Mill (Pinpet) is the first iron and steel project implementation in Myanmar. The project was commenced in September 2006 cooperating with Russia and Myanmar Economic Corporation.

Currently, the project is finished at almost full scale, and approximately 200,000 tons of iron per year when the factory starts operating.
